Sunday 17th May - Windsurf **** - The Manor - Felixstowe – sunny and warm :)

Starboard Foil Freeride 150 and Slingshot Hover Glide F/Wind with Tushingham Lightning 7.

Foil – 18.09 knot max, 13.10 knot ave., 7.16 knot hour, 12.25 knot mile, 15.20 km., 0.00 knot alpha.

We certainly made the right decision heading out into the peace and quiet of the Suffolk countryside as it was busy along the seafront as I headed down to The Manor. There were several cars in the carpark and people fishing on the beach and then a face from the past came over, Al Wiz and we had a nice chat and said that Colesy had been up here foiling. He said he was going out with 8.5 and said as the tide turned it would fill in, so I decided to give it a try as the Southerly wind was gusting to 17 mph. I set up my foil and took a chance with my favourite foil sail, the Lightning 7m. Luckily the fisherman had packed up so I had the groyne all to myself as I headed off the beach in what looked like marginal winds but I turned broad and was soon up and flying. I ended up sailing well over three miles up to The Dip where several kites and foilers were out. I am loving the foil and it is so much fun sailing broad running down the swells sailing parallel to the beach in glorious sunshine:) I could have done with at least my 7.8 but managed OK with the small sail! I had a good beat back but lost the wind just past the pier so tacked and headed back with loads of foilers whizzing about everywhere! I headed further offshore so I could make it back to The Manor. Again, I lost the wind just past the pier and had to slog back but it’s a big board so no problem! So, my hunt continues for a Slingshot Levitator 150 foil board but just nothing about at the moment! So a top day, a 5 Star bike ride and a 4 Star foil, I should sleep well tonight!!!
